APHON—COG Evidence Based Practice Guidelines

The Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON), in collaboration with the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) Nursing Discipline Committee, is pleased to announce a request for proposals to test the implementation of supportive care guidelines in the care of children, adolescents, or young adults with cancer.


The APHON Board has approved an award of up to $10,000 to support selected project(s). Funding will be based on the submitted budget and will be awarded once Institutional Review Board approval for the proposed project has been granted.


The principal investigator must be a registered nurse and a current member of APHON. Selection of the supportive care guideline for implementation and evaluation is at the discretion of the individual research team. The guideline must have relevance for the care of children, adolescents, or young adults with cancer. Graduate theses, projects, and dissertations are eligible for consideration. All proposals must follow the instructions posted on the APHON website.


Interested teams are requested to submit a letter of intent prior to submission of the completed proposal. The “early bird” deadline for letters of intent is September 1, 2008. Final letters of intent are due October 15, 2008, and completed proposals will be due December 15, 2008. All letters of intent and applications will be submitted electronically via the APHON website.
